Introduction

This introduction locates the book within the overall context of debate around Eurocentrism in Translation Studies and underlines the need for a greater investigation of the concept. It lays out the value of scholarship on Arabic and especially Qurʾan translation for interrogating Eurocentrism and for imagining ways to face the dilemmas it raises within translation scholarship. The chapter introduces the book’s central claims and outlines its structure alongside the methods used and key arguments made in each chapter.
