ABSTRACT
This first chapter lays out the legislation and regulations pertinent to the topic. Each one is explained, and examples are offered to illustrate them. The chapter also explains the various agencies and teams that are involved in response and how they work together, as well as the areas for which they are responsible, such as investigation teams and government and airline teams. Family associations are introduced as a newer element of response and how they can support and guide agencies and airlines to learn from accidents and develop.
