ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the initial phase of a response by detailing the Crisis Management Centre or CMC and how it is set up, operated and managed. It reviews the key roles within it as well as the required equipment. The chapter explains the process for activation and the order of the process, along with a timeline for the first three phases. The chapter moves on to review the Telephone Enquiry Centre or TEC which activates at the same time and offers a way for worried family and friends to offer and gain information about the situation.
