ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews how an airport can be part of a response and how their plans, training and exercising should coincide with the airlines using them. It also shows how the airport can support passengers who are potentially caught up in an accident but are able to walk away and do not require medical assistance. The chapter describes the required support rooms via the Family Assistance Act and what goes on in the rooms. It also explains how families and survivors can be reunited, how families of those who do require medical help or are deceased are transitioned over to the Humanitarian Assistance Centre and how Special Assistance Teams can help the airport response.
