ABSTRACT

To have a bodily sensation is to perceive a quality of the body, or it is to have a bodily sense-impression, or it is to apprehend a unique non-physical item located in the body, or it is to apprehend an item that is not located in the body yet is somehow associated with parts of the body. It is natural to think of an itch as something that is there in a certain place in the body. An attitude-theory of tickles would say that having a tickle is just a matter of trying to break the contact between a portion of skin and the ‘tickling’ object, or of having an impulse to rub the ‘ticklish’ spot.
