Why Is It Important for Children to Understand How the Brain Works?

This chapter discusses the importance of teaching children how the brain works with a focus on neuroplasticity. There are many benefits to children having a working knowledge of how the brain works. Some of these benefits include increased motivation, willingness to accept new challenges, and a new, more positive reaction to mistakes and failure. This chapter also discusses ways we can infuse some key terms when we talk to children about persevering and learning. Ways for children to demonstrate neural connections and a list of brain books for children round out the chapter.
