ABSTRACT

Ysemay Dercon is a freelance illustrator and graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. She is currently based in Providence, Rhode Island. Her creative pursuits lie in the worlds of publishing, art and science communication, portraiture, and journalistic illustration. She strives to create art that communicates about the world around us in a meaningful and engaging way. You can find her work in books such as The Little Gardener. Helping Children Connect with the Natural World, a primer on gardening meant for both children and adults, published by Princeton Architectural Press. She has also worked closely with Osa Conservation, a non-profit conservation and research organization located in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. Her collaboration with Osa Conservation involved creating the illustrations for a series of interpretive panels that have been installed on the trail system of the organization's property. When not creating, she enjoys going for long walks outdoors, reading memoirs, and spending time in cafes with friends.
