ABSTRACT

The first part of the chapter discusses the methodological approach. The definitions of the key variables and concepts used in the analysis are given. The chapter also presents details of an input–output modelling framework and the improvisations introduced contributing to the improved precision of relevant estimates. The scope of manufacturing activity is discussed through coverage of organised and unorganised manufacturing segments. The identification criteria for categorisation into labour-intensive and capital-intensive typologies are also presented in the chapter. The second part documents the multiple data sources and specifies the time frame of the analysis. The sector scheme used for an economy-wide analysis is given.
