ABSTRACT
Writers are guided through a variety of strategies for finding an idea for a personal narrative, such as using a heart map or photograph. Each strategy is modeled and can be adapted for writers in elementary school. “My Writing World,” an instructional tool in the Writing Studio, is introduced and available for writers to use. The section concludes with prompts for readers to connect what they are learning as a writer with what they are learning about becoming a teacher of writing.
