ABSTRACT

This chapter delves into manufacturing methods, with a focus on additive methods such as 3D printing. It provides guidance for selecting the optimal manufacturing method by using the four system conditions approach to minimize the impact on human health and environment. The chapter explores the shift from traditional subtractive manufacturing processes to additive manufacturing, emphasizing the advantages of design flexibility and reduced material waste. The chapter provides an overview of various 3D printing methods, materials, and applications showcased on real-world examples. It also addresses the challenges and opportunities in the rapidly evolving field of 3D printing, with a focus on the process optimization and sustainability.
