ABSTRACT

This chapter will focus on explaining the evolution process of feudalism “Pernicious-Vestiges” discourse. Feudalism is the object of common opposition of the revolutionary paradigm and the modern paradigm. Feudal “Pernicious-Vestiges” has also become the narrative tradition that appears the most, lasts the longest, and has not been cut off yet in contemporary China. In almost every stage of feudal “Pernicious-Vestiges”, there are other “Pernicious-Vestiges” words with similar meaning and performance as narrative types. Feudalism has gradually become an all-encompassing “Pernicious-Vestiges” source because of its long history, from which any opposed social reality and ideology can find the historical trace of the construction of dominant discourse hope. In the discourse practice of feudal “Pernicious-Vestiges”, there have been at least five distinct stages of re-narrative, the main contents and manifestations of which are mainly reflected in the following sections: object and conspiracy of “class struggle” (1947–1959), breaking old and creating new tools (1964–1974), substitutes for the “Pernicious-Vestiges” of the Cultural Revolution and the “de-revolutionization” of the revolution (1978–2012), and rebirth in the fight against corruption (2012-present).
