ABSTRACT

The narrative practice of “Pernicious-Vestiges” is reflection of the contemporary Chinese historical view. The increase in the number of each “Pernicious-Vestiges” discourse practice is often accompanied by major external crisis or internal changes in society and its ideology. Therefore, in line with the reversal of historical evaluation, the discourse construction of “Pernicious-Vestiges” typically reflects the ideology of contemporary China and how various interest groups are evaluated and reevaluated to some extent. In order to intuitively outline which historical events, social groups, or ideologies are defined as the sources of “Pernicious-Vestiges”, and at which time periods “Pernicious-Vestiges” discourse is reflected and explained, the following chapters will discuss specific discourse topics. This chapter will focus on explaining the discourse practice of “Pernicious-Vestiges” from scratch through the following sections: intellectuals and cultural “Pernicious-Vestiges”, the correction of “fight selfishness and criticize revisionism”, how the Gang of Four and the Cultural Revolution became “Pernicious-Vestiges”, and the reflection on the extreme “Left” trend of thought.
