This section opens up with a quick exploration on what performance art is to psychoanalysis, including how Judith Butler's vision of performativity fits into psychoanalysis’ understanding of performance. Given this context, we’ll then explore how performance is written about in psychoanalysis, how performance art is considered in psychoanalysis (in terms of assessing patients), and if anyone has ever thought about the therapist as a performance artist before.
