ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses the formal dimensions of Australian far-right political parties on paper. It traces the organisational development of eight far-right parties and explores the evolution of their party structures and their operation to provide a qualitative overview of their internal life and developmental trajectories. This chapter draws on an original assemblage of primary and secondary sources pertaining to the operation of the eight parties, including party constitutions, policy manifestos, and statements to the press. Situating the eight parties in domestic and international context, this chapter demonstrates the organisational parallels between Australian and European far-right parties, while also highlighting their connections to various far-right movements in Australia and abroad.
