ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter outlines the utility of disorganised parties for analysing the electoral failure of far-right parties, in Australia and beyond. First, it summarises the key findings, highlighting how disorganisation relates to poor electoral performance among Australian far-right parties. Next, it explores the utility of the concept of disorganised parties beyond the Australian context, by applying it to two other cases: the Belgian Front National and the Sweden Democrats. Finally, returning to the Australian case, this chapter provides new avenues for future research and discusses what disorganisation and the corresponding electoral stagnation means for the future of the far right in Australia.
