ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter reinforces the analytical power and abundant research opportunities pertaining to the categories of food, music, and breathing for the field of Modern Yoga Studies. The author provides further examples from fieldwork that show the generative frictions between yoga, food, music, breathing and other cultural phenomena such as permaculture and organic farming that produce engaged alchemies. Future directions for the study of contemporary yoga are discussed, as are further methodological and pedagogical considerations for undertaking future research. As the author shows, contemporary yoga cultures can only be wholly understood by critically studying, but also embodying, particular forms of transnational yoga.
