ABSTRACT

In this session, the participants are asked to explore their awareness and understanding of perhaps the strongest emotion of all: love. The facilitator should judge whether to begin with general discussion, which might be prompted by writing the word ‘love’ on the whiteboard and asking participants to comment on what the word means to them. The facilitator's role is to guide the learning, clarify any misperceptions and challenge negative or stereotypical thinking. In the plenary session, the facilitator can ask the participants to recap on what they have learnt in today's session. In particular the participants can be asked whether they feel more equipped to make the most of their own relationships, or act as a peacemaker in helping others. The facilitator should ensure that participants are aware of sources of support within school and outside.
