ABSTRACT

In this session, participants are asked to consider factors that may be the cause of stress in their lives, the strategies they use for managing this stress (resilience factors) and to consider a variety of other strategies. There are many different definitions of stress and it is widely recognised that stress means different things to different people. The facilitator or participants can compile a series of cards/posters depicting different possible stressful situations both in and out of school, e.g. parents arguing, worrying about exams, falling out with a friend. The participants can record/draw ideas of coping strategies for each situation. The facilitator and participants can research a variety of relaxation techniques and share these with the group.
