ABSTRACT

In this sixth session, the participants are asked to consider characteristics of good friendships and the impact friends can have on our lives, both positive and negative. Friends are an important and often central aspect of our lives. However, communication and honesty are important aspects of any relationship and good friendships should always be based on mutual trust where both people feel valued. The Take Home Task requires participants to consider the characteristics of a good friend that are important to them. These can be recorded on the format provided as a job description for a good friend. The facilitator may wish to encourage participants to create a step-by-step mediation process for dealing with conflict that can be displayed and used if and when conflicts arise. The aim of the warm-up activity is for the participants to begin to identify characteristics that they consider are important in their friends.
