ABSTRACT
To the honour of God and the monastery of Sao Mamede of Lorvão, this book was transcribed and brought to completion in era 1223, during the reign of King D. Afonso and his son King D. Sancho, while D. Martin presided over the see of Coimbra and D. John ruled as abbot over the monastery of Lorvão and the monks piously serving God therein. Praise and glory be to Christ for the book’s completion. May he who helped in its production be helped by God. May he who brought the text of the book to this land be blessed by the living God and His saints and live a long life, honoured by his princes and kings, and by the bishops and the whole clergy of this and foreign lands.
