ABSTRACT

On the premiss that animals are pre- rather than self-determined, the people may infer that their structure is like a water organ consisting of a bellows and reservoir complete with operating mechanism, a pallet chest combining soundboard and pipe rack with pipes, a barrel, and a key-frame and action parts. In hydraulic organs two essential mechanisms constitute the operating system. In water organs the hydraulic mechanism operates in conjunction with air feeders, but in some organs these feeders are air pumps and in others, wind bellows. In both water and pneumatic organs, bellows may supply wind either directly to a regulator closet under a row of pipes or indirectly via a cistern. For organ harmony there must be a strict sympraxis between the mechanisms of the operating system; and this requires regulation by spirits that blow in a smooth, even fashion.
