ABSTRACT

In the Apocalypse of Pseudo-Methodius 1 , it is prophesied that the Emperor of the Greeks will go to Jerusalem when the period of the world dominion of the Christian Empire, established by his victory over the Muslims, is brought to an end by the invasions of the eschatological peoples. There, in the Holy City, he will reside until the advent of Antichrist. When Antichrist appears, the Emperor will ascend Golgotha, erect the Holy Cross, put his crown on the top of the Cross and hand over the kingdom to God the Father. The crown and the Cross will be raised to heaven, the Last Greek Emperor will die, and all sovereignty and power on earth will have come to an end 2 .
