ABSTRACT

The Multiple Menu Model provides curriculum developers with a set of practical planning guides or menus to help them in the process of combining authentic knowledge with instructional technique. Teachers designing curriculum units based on the Multiple Menu Model must first locate the targeted discipline in the larger domain of knowledge in order to provide students with an overview of the unique perspectives each discipline or field of study offers in understanding complex phenomena. Basic principles are generally agreed upon truths that have been arrived at through rigorous study and research. Principles are often stated as relationships among concepts, and they concisely summarize a great deal of information and have the potential to provide information that applies to diverse situations. When teachers view process as content, they avoid the artificial dichotomy and the endless arguments about whether content or process should be the primary goal of learning.
