ABSTRACT

Engaging students in the act of learning requires much consideration by the curriculum writer. Planning a unit involves a number of instructional decisions that are critical and must be made consciously and purposefully. Viewed broadly, the Instructional Techniques menus require educators to carefully consider how learning will take place as students interact with the content. The Artistic Modification Template is one strategy for generating artistic modification topics. The template is divided into three types of personal experiences: Direct, Indirect (or Vicarious), and Creative. Teachers can also begin generating topics for artistic modification by working with others in a small group brainstorming situation. Group interaction often prompts a related idea that may evolve into a good teaching idea/activity. The Instructional Products Menu deals with the outcomes of learning experiences that the teacher presents.
