ABSTRACT

A new and extended theoretical Marxist-Leninist approach, forced on the Soviet Union by the political situation after the Stalin era, was introduced to deal with the emerging Arab states. The Soviet Union considered that the form of nationalism would lead the colonies to collaborate with it in the process of attaining political and economic independence. It was thought that the move came about because of American influence on Israel in order to bind the policies of the Western bloc, and it gave prominence to the stand taken by the Israeli Communist Party. By the end of August the police had made several arrests with the aim of suppressing the Communist organization. But, at the center of this Arab political development lay the stark reality of the existence of the State of Israel.
