ABSTRACT
A compound known generically as piroxicam was synthesized by Pfizer in 1967 in Connecticut in the us. By 1977 scientists at Pfizer felt that they had sufficient data to approach regulatory authorities for approval of the nsaid. Switzerland was the first to approve it in September 1979 with the uk soon following in January 1980. However, the fda did not approve the marketing of piroxicam until April 1982. In both the uk and the us piroxicam was marketed under the tradename Feldene.
