ABSTRACT

Exploration of relationship must also include how two people stand in relation to one another. Some relationships also occur between a performer and an object. When traveling involves passing someone and there is a need to state the relationship to the other person, the meeting line is used to show on which side people pass one another when crossing. Relationship to an object may also need to be indicated. A path may end close to an object, or a performer may pass an object or relate to it while traveling. In these examples, a chair is the object and floor plans are provided to illustrate one possible interpretation. When performing outdoors, there may be no clear Front for the performers to relate to, so a focal point needs to be established. For any circular dance, the center of the circle is the understood focal point.
