ABSTRACT
The Asia-Pacific region is rapidly growing in economic importance, and the expansion of trade and investment opportunities inevitably led to the expansion of published business information. Apart from well known success stories like Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan one area which is rapidly growing in economic power is ASEAN. Ethnic Chinese are particularly widespread and successful. The Asia-Pacific region is in some ways quite inward looking, e.g. the large overseas Chinese community is particularly interested in aid and investment for China, while Japan and Australia wish to be involved in the rapid growth of their neighbours. Indians have a variety of approaches towards names. They might have a standard family name which passes from generation to generation, though they do not necessarily choose to use it.
