ABSTRACT

Screening is big business in the US, taking information from the census, registrations of yachts or cars, household expenditure records, etc., depending on state regulations. Advertisements in the fund-raising press will provide names. Directory enquiries give us the number of the one where our prospect lives. Information on people can also be gleaned from company reports. Proxies give details such as age, directorships in other public companies and details of compensation for the top officers. Sources for unknown addresses and telephone numbers are official registers, the US Postal Service National Change of Address database, telecom directories, and even credit agencies. US business directories often contain better indexes than their foreign counterparts.
