ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the optimum requirements for a prospect research department operating in a large organisation. Prospect research departments come in all shapes and sizes, and their potential is often poorly understood. The worst scenario is where the manager considers that the job involves little more than checking Who’s Who and scanning the press. It is therefore decided that anyone who seems to have a little spare time can take on this extra responsibility. Those researchers who work alone and with few resources should not be intimidated by the scale described here. Gaining an overview of what is possible should enable them to pick out those books or methods which best suit their needs.
