ABSTRACT

‘And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.’ The words from Genesis echo those of the Ugandan proverb that says that ‘life is your ability to breathe in every time you breathe out’. It is important to be comfortable and it is important to be in close, relaxed and fluid relation to the ground. It is useful to remember previous workshops about the foot and the back. The knees should be raised and the feet planted firmly on the ground. Breathing, though the simplest and most primal of activities, is done unconsciously and is often inhibited by bad habits like shallow or irregular breathing and breath-holding. Through the course of the workshop the participants will get ever more familiar with the mechanics of their breathing and the rhythm of their breath of life.
