ABSTRACT

The necessity for constant reminders should always be borne in mind. The idea of being centred, relaxed, balanced and neutral is crucial to this workshop. The slightest movement will ripple through the whole body. Time should now be spent experimenting with different starting impulses and different degrees of energy. It might be necessary to suggest impulsive movements. Downward sideways movements are often the best to start with – a shift of the hip, knee or ankle, say, or a thrusting of the buttocks. Play and experiment but for now have participants working solo. Work with everyone having a space in the room to start from. The music can be used to create impulses to start movements. These may be individual or a number of people may be inspired by the same moment.
