ABSTRACT

In certain cases where group projects or whole class activities are desirable, it is suggested that an area with multi-faceted opportunities for creative expression be selected as a vehicle for follow-up activity. Depending on the size of the class and the facility, the activities can be accomplished simultaneously in small groups or by individuals, or as class activities. Open discussion within the group about roles and responsibilities in group projects should be followed by individual counseling with students who appear to be uncertain about participating. Field tests have also shown that the self-analysis of interests is an ongoing process which should not be rushed, and that certain steps should be taken to avoid peer pressure that may lead to group conformity or stereotyped responses. Teachers may also want to modify or add their own items to the instrument, especially when dealing with very young children or youngsters from culturally diverse populations.
