ABSTRACT

Sometimes the opportunity to put in a creative thinking session lands in teachers’ lap unexpectedly. This is the opportunity that arises when a space appears in the timetable for which they were not really prepared. There are many books available on the market giving teachers ‘outside the box’ activity ideas and these can be adapted to using TASC. If creativity in the child is what one hope to encourage, then this depends upon the creativity of the teacher to find ways of incorporating the sessions into the timetable. It is needed to encourage children to retain their creativity, develop the courage to explore and look for the possibilities that exist rather than be distracted by self-imposed constraints. However, the enthusiasm shown by the children, the excitement for learning together and the depth of the learning that they experienced made them return to it.
