ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on joyriding and the consequences of this kind of behaviour. The facilitator reads through an article entitled ‘Teenage Joyriders Kill Girl Aged 5 in Multiple Pile-Up’ before asking the young people to focus upon a series of key questions. The newspaper article describes how a group of joyriders knock a little girl aged five off the pavement outside her house. She is subsequently flung across the bonnet of the car and into the windscreen. She suffers severe head injuries and dies in the ambulance on the way to the local hospital’s emergency department. The young people are asked to focus upon a set-up problem scenario related to the initial article.
