ABSTRACT

Before bringing the pupils into the group the facilitator can place the chairs into a circle. This position allows the facilitator to see all the pupils and creates a relaxed atmosphere that supports a positive sharing environment, whilst also allowing enough room for practical tasks later on in the session. The facilitator should take a little time at the beginning of the session to welcome every pupil by saying, ‘Hello,’ to them by name. Once the facilitator has welcomed everyone the facilitator can remind the pupils that they have come to this group to take part in some fun activities. Pupils can be reminded of the structure of the session and what they will be asked to do.
