ABSTRACT

The game works on a similar principle to the party game ‘Pass the Parcel’. Pupils sit in a circle and the bag is passed from pupil to pupil whilst music plays. Once the music stops the pupil or facilitator who is holding the bag places their hand into the bag and removes one picture card without looking. The facilitator needs to model good turn-taking by taking a random turn alongside the pupils. However as this may be only the third time that the pupils have experienced this game, it might be necessary for the facilitator to take their turn first to model the process to the pupils once again. The pupils remain seated in a circle and are next reintroduced to the three characters in the story, Ella, Amir and their teacher Miss Summers. As each character is named the facilitator should show the pupils the accompanying picture.
