ABSTRACT

The chapter provides readers with information, explanations, examples, and suggestions to use as you ask your students to reflect on their grammar inquiry experiences and provide them with the support they need while they do so. The chapter begins with information about what it means to ask students to reflect on their experiences with the grammar inquiry project, identifying key reflection prompts for students to consider and discussing ways to help students engage with them. After that, it discusses why students’ reflecting on their grammar inquiry work is so important to their understanding of the authentic uses of grammatical concepts and of the significance of grammar to effective communication. Next, the chapter shares examples of students’ reflections on their grammar inquiry experiences and discusses what we can learn from their reflective insights. After that, it provides instructional recommendations to use when helping your students reflect on their grammar inquiries. It then concludes with key closing ideas and an infographic that expresses important instructional insights.
