ABSTRACT

This chapter provides readers with important information and ideas that will help them assess their students’ grammar inquiry work in meaningful ways. The chapter begins with information about what it means to assess students’ work on their grammar inquiries, identifying key components of these assessments and sharing an example rubric. Next, it explores why effective and meaningful assessments of students’ grammar inquiry work are so important to their learning experiences with this process. After that, it shares examples of how the author used the rubric provided in this chapter to assess the work of the seventh- and tenth-grade students whose ideas and insights have been featured in this book. Following that, the chapter offers recommendations for the reader to consider while evaluating their own students’ grammar inquiry work. Finally, it concludes with important final insights and a useful infographic that summarizes essential recommendations.
