ABSTRACT

This chapter sheds light on judicial pronouncements relating to juvenile delinquency in India. The age factor of the child at the time of commission of offence plays a very crucial role during proceedings before the Juvenile Justice Board. The board may rely on the birth certificate and other necessary documents to determine the exact age of the child. Also, this chapter discusses in detail the Delhi Gang Rape case which resulted in the death of a girl after the incident. Major amendments were carried out in criminal law in India post Delhi Gang Rape case, which is also known as Nirbhaya Case.
