ABSTRACT

The Shingo Institute's fundamental truth regarding respect is: Everyone has value and untapped potential. Like the definition of Respect Every Individual, the fundamental truth focuses our attention on the concepts of value and potential. In essence, the statement represents the reason we willingly choose to develop a culture of respect. Behavioral benchmarks are large groups of behaviors that are used to break down each principle into groups that are manageable. Ideal behaviors represent those examples of behaviors where leaders, managers, and team members are truly living the principle of respect and supporting each other's growth and development, recognizing the contribution each person makes, and creating a safe environment. In 2011, Abbott Laboratories announced that it was splitting into two healthcare companies. The AbbVie Ballytivnan behaviors have evolved over time as the organization has matured and learned.
