ABSTRACT

The focus of the methodology will be a project, the authors call Water Woven City, an urban expansion area of Gaochun, in Nanjing, China. The processes for developing the generic networks city consist of a series of steps that are part of an iterative process, steps just outlined in the previous summary. The following urban design ambitions and objectives have developed from the data collection and analysis stage and directly relate to the summary of that process: the SWOT analysis. The ambitions will include both the generic and the specific. Generic building typologies, such as those shown below, should be applied to each site of the emerging urban design proposition. Existing conditions frequently necessitate the need or, more positively, provide the opportunity for going beyond the generic networks cities framework. Teeming with fauna including fish and water birds, the design enhances the natural habitat with indigenous ecosystem corridors.
