ABSTRACT

Handling confrontation, even when it is a planned conversation, is rarely an easy task, even for experienced leaders. For most educators, conflict resolution is not part of our training, hopefully because it is a rare experience in schools. But it does happen. This chapter includes 10 strategies highlighted by the WWL participants, divided into on-the-spot strategies to help defuse a tense situation and longer-term strategies to help build comfort with accountable conversations.
