ABSTRACT
This chapter sets the stage and gives direction to the entire book. This chapter begins with a clear and concise description of the research problem, i.e., the gap in policy and practice and the research purpose. The second section of the chapter outlines the themes which are broken into applicable research questions. The section discusses the intentions and contributions of the book. The following section of why higher education explores the reasons for choosing the sector of higher education. This is followed by a section on research design and method which discusses the researcher positionality that influenced choice of the qualitative design and the diverse twin methods. The last section of the chapter discusses the structure and organization of the book.
