ABSTRACT

This chapter answers the book's first research theme of (a) meaning of instructional design and (b) roles and functions of instructional designers. The chapter details research findings from the three study sites and corresponding participants of River University, Lane University, and End College instructional designers. Participant interviews interspersed with quotes as well as corresponding job description excerpts provide a holistic and concise view. The findings are followed by a comprehensive that includes an in-depth analysis that highlights similarities and differences between findings from River University, Lane University, and End College. This analysis is followed by a conclusion that aligns or refutes findings with academic literature.
