ABSTRACT
This chapter interrogates notions of adulthood: its unique role as the demographic classification by which every other demographic can be assessed and measured. It explores the field of power and the relationship between authenticity, authority and respect and the role that these play in the transitioning to adulthood. It then examines the role ‘stereotyping’ plays when adults misrecognise young people from following generations.
