ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the need for effective collaborative working. It is known that this area can be an issue within education, and yet it is vital for the effective support for neurodivergent pupils. There is a section on how to work with others and make suggestions for working differently.

There are focus areas looking at working with the class teacher and parents and carers with an overview of who neurodivergent pupils may also be working with such as education professionals including behaviour support workers, attendance and welfare officers and health professionals such as mental health and medical practitioners. Collaboration is at the heart of supporting pupils in the classroom and the school environment and also with the transition to home.

There is a section on the use of positive language and addressing and challenging derogatory language.
