ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author is about to embark on her first therapy for what Dr. Bob calls her speech, language and communicative disorders. In her mind, her impassioned goal is to get back to writing her dissertation, even though she is unable to write. She is disconnected from her inabilities. She is sure that she will be back to writing very soon. She is blissfully unaware that there are many stepping stones to get to where she wants to go. Her speech therapist tells her she has an inability to set and meet realistic goals. After one year, she also tells the author she has gone as far as she can in my recovery. The therapist tells her she has a good enough find of knowledge, even though she can’t even say what a phrase is. As she tries to forge ahead, she is absent most of the time, living in a state of nothingness, not in the past, not in a future, only in the now – in her fog.
