ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how a first responder should project enthusiasm while working with a patient on the scene of an emergency. The mnemonic CREDIBLE, used throughout the book, is applied to help understand the process used in hypnotic communication. The last letter of this word is the letter E, standing for enthusiasm. The principles that are reviewed include the importance of staying in the moment, maintaining self-awareness, and monitoring emotions. A true/false and imagination exercise at the end of the chapter offers thinking questions related to the chapter material. The communication techniques are offered as an opportunity to facilitate the healing process only as an adjunct to support standard medical treatments. This focus allows anyone to augment their approach to include hypnotic communication while simultaneously performing the tasks of patient treatment.
