ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the patient’s ability to follow directives to stop their own bleeding. First responders will gain confidence in using hypnotic communication with people that have serious traumatic and internal bleeding injuries. The authors offer situations and examples of communication strategies used so that the reader knows the kinds of words and directives to use in an emergency. The mnemonic CREDIBLE, used throughout the book, is applied to help understand the process used in hypnotic communication. An exercise at the end of the chapter offers an imagined situation for the reader to practice a communication script. The communication techniques are offered as an opportunity to facilitate the healing process only as an adjunct to support standard medical treatments. This focus allows anyone to augment their approach to include hypnotic communication while simultaneously performing the tasks of patient treatment.
